Times Higher article on the Government's Response to Inquiry Report

In a short article, the THES covers the publication of the Government's disappointing reponse to the Select Committee's report. The article takes an unambiguous line, starting "The Government this week refused to embrace a future where all research is available freely to everyone online . . ."
It quotes Dr Ian Gibson, MP as head of the Select Committee criticising the response and also Toby Bainton, of SCONUL. As a counter-point, it ends with a quote from a spokesman of the Royal Society, saying " . . . the Royal Society supports the Government's intention to avoid any action that might threaten the viability of such [learned] societies".
The story is on-line, at the Times Higher site but only available to subscribers.
